POST OP day 10
this was a completely chill day for me. woke up at 4am and stayed up til 9am. napped on and off until 1pm. I guess this weird sleeping schedule doesn't matter as much because i'm not working. but this is exactly how i slept when i was working night shift. i fell asleep in the CPM last night but remember waking up and shutting if off completely. Earlier in the day i kept myself busy by making little yarn flowers that i plan on putting on the hats i knitted earlier in the year. mom is coming back tomorrow with some extra yarn we had in the house so i'm excited to mix up the color scheme with the flowers. it's the little things. also made some fabric flowers.

Being preoccupied with flower making, I've noticed that my knee get stiff so easy if it's not moved often. I've learned to flex my knee a lot while i'm just sitting/laying. It was so tempting to bust out of here with the sun shining through my windows, then saw that the temp was pretty chilly, so just stayed in. didn't even make it up to the gym. I only like to go there when not many ppl/no ppl are there just so i don't freak ppl out with my leg and the pretty fuschia colors on it. plus it's the weekend so i'm sure ppl were getting their sweat on on their day off. i put off my exercising til later on in the night while all the all star game festivities were going on. I set up my "gym" and assessed my leg. Looking at it in the mirror really put things into perspective- my left leg is significantly smaller than my right with a whole lotta bruising.

After I got over the shock of how ugly my leg looked, I watched the all star weekend skills challenge, 3pt contest, and slam dunk contest while exercising with Vince on video chat. Chad Griffin scares the hell out of me but when he smiles, it's like the most beautiful thing just happened. He looks like the geico caveman with hair texture of Linkavich from Encino Man, pre makeover. I think that McGee should've dunked with that little asian boy on his back to take the win. I miss MJ. Anyhoo, it's amazing how my MACdaddy keeps me connected with the outer world via video chat, email...don't know what i'd do without it at this time.
Exercises were done, so Vince and I were trying to find other things to do besides watch tv. I remember when i was little i was obsessed with playing tetris on my dad's computer. I mentioned it to Vince and he found a link for me to play tetris. We ended up playing til our hands cramped up. TETRIS! (click that to play) I
n the meantime, knee is slowly progressing, i'm able to bear more weight on the affected leg when walking, and the swelling is down a lil. it's amazing how attempting to walk is like learning how to walk all over again. going heel toe is easier said than done, that's for shizzle. the hardest part of taking a step is when i have to pick up my heel to take another step forward, my quad is super tight so i work hard to get my leg to kick upwards. i've discovered that this whole experience is like coming home with a new baby- every hour there's something that needs to be done. either doing simple exercises, massaging it, icing it, CPM-ing it, redressing, wrapping, rinse and repeat. this left leg is so high maintenance! i'm so proud of my right leg, Vince said i should go get a pedicure and have the left leg work done on the rt instead bc it deserves double the pampering! it's been so supportive and has really backed lefty up in time of need. Goodness I'm still craving something sour cream and onion. does anyone know where i can get auntie annie sour cream and onion sprinkle from? just the sprinkle? sheesh, i wish i could just drive to target to fulfill this craving, but no driving til I get the doc's okay. eye of the tiger. guess i'll have to settle for mom's arroz caldo for the umpteenth day in a row. one can only eat so much chicken. okedokes, looking fwd to a sunday funday and hoping to get back on the bike to increase my movement! good night!
