Specific moments Pre-surgery...

the culprit: 8ft wall.  This was after the race, we were having fun and messing around with the obstacles

the aftermath... i managed to bike home with a big bag of urbanthlon flair (including chipotle chips and guac!)  I did this RICE method for 2 weeks denying that anything was wrong.  I still biked to work, never missed work, ran a couple of miles during workouts, and went through intense boxing sessions

but the pain from being stupid was all worth it because I got to see this guy...AC Slater aka Mario Lopez

december 22, 2011: appt. with Dr. Merk to hear news that would either make me or break me.  This is the initial diagnostic test:  the X-ray, showed nothing.  He then performed this crazy manuever where he pulled my tibia forward and backward.  It wasn't supposed to do that if the ACL existed! So he told me to get an MRI asap.
the next diagnostic test: the MRI confirming the wear and tear.
I was referred by Dr. Merk to Dr. Sara Edwards.  My appt with her on Jan 6th confirmed the tear and meniscus damage with the MRI.  It was sad news but i got to go home with this spiffy brace with hinges on the side!

I still couldn't get over the fact that I had been running miles at a time, going to boxing classes, and working my 12 hr shifts with nothing connecting my thigh to my shin, nutrageous!
