woke up feeling great! this was after my first night by myself. I decided to get myself out of bed and set up a lil pad on the floor that i could do my PT exercises on. The first thing i do when i wake up is check how much i've bled through the ace bandage. kinda gross, but at least the drainage is more serosanguinous than frank blood. The big gauze still gets pretty saturated which scares me at times, but hoping that it'll go down in the next couple of days. I was able to bring my CPM machine down to the floor by myself. I know I shouldn't be moving ginormous things around in my condition, but i can't help it! After creating a little "gym" on my floor, I undid my bandage and assessed the site which was still super bruised.

the inner aspect of my leg looks icky. I was able to change the steristrips on the oozy incision which didn't hurt that much because my leg was still on the numb side |

the outer part looks waaaaay better |
Completed my ankle pumps and massaged the middle of my knee which is the most tender. After the exercises, i CPM'd at 75 degrees. I planned on being in the machine for a couple of hours because Purvi & Pratik were gonna get me at noon to drive back to the burbs. So while I was in the machine, i did some upperbody work with 5lb dumbbells, then took lil naps here and there. I did all these exercises to a great music station i discovered on tv: DJ Mixlyte, which is a music station playing nonstop oldschool hiphop mixed with new stuff. each song had a fun beat which got me pumped. Anyhoo, after my CPM session, i got stuff ready to finally wash up! Covered my left leg with seran wrap and rested it along the edge of the bath tub, then proceeded.

all wrapped up and ready to go! |
I started with washing the hair first, then the body. Felt so good to just wash off all the post op germs! and my hair was all icky too. once out and dressed, gathered the goods for my mini trip to darien. decided to bring the CPM so i could at least squeeze in a session once i got home and waited for our lakeview reunion to start. Once I got home to Darien, set up the machine downstairs and just stayed there. Neha was my guest for the day, she came to visit from Naperville! We didn't have that much time together, but it was enough to catch up and chill for a little bit. She gave me a goodie bag with magazines and fun candy! The last part of the night was saved to celebrate reuniting with my jr. high classmates after 16 years! Lakeview had a wheelchair for me! It was funny but i really needed it considering this was my 1st time out on crutches. Because of the history of the oozing from the bottom incision, wanted to keep the leg elevated as much as possible to decreased that. Ended up staying from 6-10:45pm, everyone kept calling me a "trooper" so i wrote that on a nametag. The whole event felt like a dream, may have been the situation in combination with pain meds though. It was just really nice to see everyone all growns up. After coming home from the reunion with Chibe and Andy, I got the machine set up to do its thing through the night so I could fall asleep in it. Next thing to look forward to? Brunch at Shaw's with Ansel and Marcie!
