POST OP day 6

I finally got many hours of straight sleep, a whopping 5!  That's the most since the surgery.  That pain is still there, just above my right popliteal.  The exciting news is that I'm now able to sit fully on the toilet with my leg normally bent.  That crosses off one of my goals on the "whiteboard": pee sitting down comfortably.  The only thing is that i have to rest that left foot on a pad to relieve pressure.  Also, the colace (stool softener) finally kicked in!  it made me really happy :o)  For those of you who know me well, I'm not afraid to talk about my bowel patterns, it's natural!  The knee swelling is down, except for that right popliteal, it's becoming so troublesome!  I just hope it's not a buildup of something bad.  At times it feels warm but the cold therapy and
ace bandage compress gives it relief.  I can't wait for this bruising to go down!   Today marks degree #105 on the CPM machine, kinda nervous but will do a nice massaging of the leg before I start.  There's numbness and tingling on the outer part of my tibia, but Dr. Edwards said that's normal to feel post op.  I'll just continue to monitor how often it happens to make sure it doesn't occur frequently.

It's now early afternoon and i've discovered a way to relieve the back knee knub problem- thigh high ted hose!  i happened to dig up one ted hose that pretty much goes from toe to bottom hip and it's amazeballs!  kinda like a spanx for my left leg.  makes getting out of bed much easier because it decreases that feeling of fluid that gushes down my leg as I place my foot down.  I did a session of 105 degrees on the CPM for almost 4 hrs.  during that, i busted out my old "simple life" dvd (yes i own it), and watched the 2nd season of Laguna Beach.  As much as I can't stand Kristin Cavallari, that show is a guilty pleasure.  I thank Yvonne for keeping me entertained bc she's the one who has gotten me the DVD sets of LB and the Hills :o).  Seeing all the overhead shots of SoCal makes me miss Vince so much.

Lis came to visit for the night so we watched the bulls game and ordered domino's pizza online!  ordering takeout wasn't even a thought until we got into a discussion on garlic crust.  yummers!  after we placed our bargain deal order (2 medium specialty pizzas and buffalo kickers for $29), we were so excited bc you could track your order online.  We got a philly cheese steak pizza and a memphis BBQ chicken pizza.  Usually we're into chinese food (we like to say we go to China), but we decided to go to philly, memphis, and buffalo for a change.  b4 the pizza came, i got out of my machine and headed to the bathroom.  But as I got out of bed, I felt some of the worst pain in the "knub".  i quickly popped 2 norcos in and my eyes were tearing, Lis witnessed it.  she called her sis who is also a PT and we described what was going on.  basically i wanted to rule out a blood clot.  that was my biggest fear of this development, literally.  the norco definitely helped and I just redressed the area, put the ted hose, ace bandage over, and robobrace over.  that seemed to relieve it.  While chowing down, got a lil emo seeing MJ and scottie pippen at the bulls game, we miss their talents!  After the game, we called it a night and Lis left.  Woke up at 2am realizing my tv and light were still on.  but i couldn't go back to sleep, so did a mini workout! upper body stuff and abs on the ball. that actually helped with my knee bc it forced me to use my quad for stability and 90 degree bending.  then i fell asleep from exhaustion.  That was my Tuesday.
that "foot rest" is actually a neck pillow for the bath tub!
